This little mill (5' across the rollers) was bought from Crankandstein, which I found after reading a few posts on the Home Brew Digest.  I had been shopping around for a while for a mill as I wanted to freshest ingredients possible, for that extra flavour in my beer.  I figured that having freshly milled malt in the grist would have to help.  So I checked quite a few out and ended up selecting this mill.  I am just providing a couple of smaller pictures of it already assembled, as the Crankandstein website has enough good pictures on their product there!

The mill is now fully motorized using a Ford XD Falcon wiper motor.  Plenty of crushing ability there, lots of torque.

Keep an eye on this page for the videos I plan to take of the wiper motor in action.

Thumbnail Description
A picture of the mill from the top of the grain hopper looking down towards the rollers.
A shot of the two rollers, the bottom one being the driven roller and the top one being the idler roller.

Another side shot.
Yet another side shot, spiffy new angle though!
Side view of the mount to the small shelving unit.
Close up of the mill where it is attached to the wiper motor.

The shaft of the mill was just drilled and tapped to the same thread as the wiper motor shaft, then just screwed right on.

View of the bracket and attached wiper motor, also the power cables.  The cabling for the XD Falcon wiper motor allows three speeds, though two of them are just far too slow for milling.
Side view of completed arrangement, with bucket hooks for the grist bucket, and old water cooler bottle to act as a huge hopper!
Video of malt mill in action!  Large file, over 16Meg!
