My electrical set up for the brewery is a bit different to
"most". Many people use a 240V heater element at 110V to reduce
the heat density and be able to run it at safer voltages. Sod that!
I run two 240V elements, in series, giving me nearly 2000Watts of heating at
very low densities, therefore I don't scorch the wort and can heat pretty fast.
Still, I needed wiring to support this! I ran a cable from the dryer
outlet and selected plugs and sockets for 240V use. I then used two Solid
State Relays in order to be able to control both the HLT Heater and the RIMS
Heater.
Additionally I setup a series of sockets and switches for the computer,
extract fan and wort pump which circulates the mash wort around and through the
malted grain bed.
